The U.S. Supreme Court is the highest court of the land, the upper most level of the Federal Judiciary System.
Level One: U.S District Court (has jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases)
Level Two: U.S. Circuit of Appeals (resides over cases where one or both of the parties involved are not satisfied with the ruling from the U.S District Court)
Level Three: U.S. Supreme Court (as the highest and most powerful court, hears cases involving federal law. Has the power to decide if there has been a violation of the constitution against a party or parties)
