Interlibrary Loan Services
ILL services has merged with WVU ILL services in Morgantown. WVU will manage the fullfillment of book and article requests for WVU Tech students, faculty and staff. Items requested will be mailed to your address. You will receive a pre-paid postage label for returning the items. You may also bring borrowed books to the WVU Tech Library and staff will return them to Morgantown. Requests remain FREE to students, faculty and staff. Fees may apply to books not returned or lost.

General Borrowing Privileges

Access Services: Borrowing Materials

Borrowing services are available in the library located on the second floor of the Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center.

Reserve textbooks and faculty materials are located in Access Services. Most reserved material is Library use only, although a few items may be on overnight reserve. Special arrangements can be made for textbook use for an open book test. Late fines for reserve books is 25 cents per hour. Students taking Reserve books out of the library are charged an additional $2.00 per hour the item is not returned after closing.

The Library is still undergoing shelf maintenance as a result of the transition from Montgomery to Beckley. Certain Magazines, Newspapers, Reference materials, Reserve materials, Microfiche, etc., may not be shelf-ready or allowed for check out. Please check with library staff about items of interest.

Borrowing Privileges

Students must have a Tech ID.

Public/Community Cards: Anyone not currently connected to WVU Tech must pay a $10.00 annual fee for a public/community card. Only three books are allowed to be checked out. Renewals are allowed unless a fine or hold exists on the book(s). Reserve materials are for Tech Students only. This card does not provide access to Research Databases.

Loan Periods

Undergraduate, Staff and Public:  Four weeks, with renewal allowed unless another patron has requested the book.
Faculty: May keep books for one semester unless requested by another patron.

Overdues, Fines, Lost Books

Books returned after five day grace period: 5 cents per day fine

Damaged or Lost book replacement charge: for older books where the value is not known the charge may be $50.00. For newer books the charge will be per replacement value.

Student records will be tagged for outstanding fines and/or lost books. Fines and/or replacement charges must be paid before registering for classes or requesting a transcript.

Books may be returned at the library front service desk on the 2nd floor of the Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center. If date due falls during a holiday period, an adjustment allowance will be made for the amount owed.

Photocopying

Current Tech students must add funds onto their Tech ID to use the lab printer. Photocopy for 8 ½ x 11 is 06 cents per page for black & white and 25 cents for color when using the lab printer. Charges vary for different sizes.

Public/Community Patrons and Wireless Access for Guests
