Collection Development Policy for WVU Tech Library: Gifts

Overview

WVU Tech Library accepts donations of books, microforms, DVDs, and CDs that support the University's curriculum.

Material Donations

Individuals wishing to donate materials to the library should bring the donations to the Public Services Desk located inside the main entrance of the library.

Questions regarding donations of materials should be addressed to the Library Director, Rhonda Donaldson

It is unlawful for library staff to provide assessments of the donated material's monetary value.

The library encourages donors to obtain an appraisal of their donations for income tax purposes. Appraisals are the responsibility of the donors and must be made prior to donation. The Internal Revenue Service considers library staff to be interested parties precluding their participation in the appraisal process. Acceptance of an appraised item does not imply agreement with the appraised value.

Please Note: Donations that are left outside the library will be discarded.

WVU Tech Library can not accept the following:

  • Text books
  • Large-print books
